Latin beats banished the rain clouds for a while this afternoon, as Vancouver salsa legends Mazacote performed at the CBC Plaza.
The power of Latin rhythm was enough to blow the rain away at least temporarily as Salsa powerhouse Mazacote took to the stage at the CBC Plaza on Wednesday.
The band have been a staple on the Vancouver music scene since their formation in 2009, although as singer/songwriter David Lopez mentioned during the set many of the members have played together prior to that, and they go back around 20 years.
The band was formed on the back of their love for salsa music, and hail from all parts of the globe including Nicaragua, Columbia and Mozambique, as well as some homegrown talent.
The band is set to release their 3rd album “Patria” in October, their first since 2016’s Nueva Era.
Mazacote’s line- up includes Nicaraguan singer/songwriter David Lopez Frankie Hidalgo on Bass, Chris Couto on Timbales, Robin Layne on Congas, pianist Niho Takase and jazz trumpeter Malcolm Aiken.
