Vancouver Folk Music Festival
Jericho Beach Park
It is a little over a week until the kick off of the 2019 Vancouver Folk Music Festival. This year will be the 42nd outing for this Vancouver tradition, and once again will take place at Jericho Beach Park.
As in previous years the crowd is expected to be large – the event regularly draws more than 40,000 attendees over the three days of festival.
In addition to the musical talent, the festival is also a showcase for local artisans, and has a cornucopia of food options available, as well as ample entertainment for the kids.
As in previous years the event will showcase and eclectic mix of both home-grown artists, and visitors from overseas. In addition to their own sets, many of the artists will be offering showcases, workshops, and collaborations with other acts at the event.
The shows are spread over 5 smaller stages throughout the venue, as well as the main stage which will host acts starting in the early evening, and the headliners at the end of each day. This year’s headline acts come from a wide background.
Friday night is a treat for country fans, with Alberta’s CCMA and Juno Award winner Corb Lund closing out the day.
Saturday will see another Juno awards winner, this time with a more rock-oriented edge, Quebec’s Sam Roberts Band.
Sunday will see the successful return of The Hamiltones. The band were a huge hit at last year’s festival backing headliner Ry Cooder.
In addition to the headliners there will be more than 50 additional artists to keep you entertained throughout the day.
So, dust of the blanket or camping chair, and get down to the beach early to save your spot. It is going to be a lot of fun.
