Folk Singer Songwriter icon Arlo Guthrie will be appearing at the Kay Meek Centre in West Vancouver on April 30th.  Following on the success of the Alice’s Restaurant 50th Anniversary Tour, the Running Down the Road Tour will showcase many of the too numerous to mention classics that exist in Guthrie’s back catalogue, as well as songs from other icons of he 60’s, including father Woody and Bob Dylan.

Feedback from the tour has been positive, and Arlo as a consummate performer, is sure to provide great entertainment.

Guthrie and his father before him are long time political activists, and folk performers.  Arlo came to prominence as a result of his 18min + epic Alice’s Restaurant Massacree, and biting lampoon of the Vietnam War draft. ( and one of my favourite tunes from my childhood in the 70’s incidently ).  He has continued to deliver new music on a regular basis, and is regularly joined on stage by many of music’s iconic figures.

Canadian favourites, The New Pornographers, are headed out on a Canadian Tour kicking off at the Mariposa Folk Festival, Orilla on July 7th.  The band, promoting their new Album “Whiteout Conditions”, will be playing the Commodore Ballroom on September 29th.

The new album, the band’s seventh, is the first on their own label, Collected Works Records, and follows on from the highly successful 2014 outing Brill Bruisers.

The New Pornographers are A.C. Newman, Blaine Thurier, Dan Bejar, Joe Seiders, John Collins, Kathryn Calder, Neko Case, and Todd Fancey.
