Front Country – Vancouver Folk Music Festival 2019

With musical backgrounds in everything from roots-rock to world music to the classics, it would seem that west coast bluegrass would be an odd choice the members of Front Country. It might just be that diversity that gives the band it’s unique sound in this genre. The band had been jamming for a while before entering a band competition at a bluegrass festival. Following a surprise win, the band were truly on their way.
Their combination of self-penned music and reworked country and bluegrass classics has won them a wide range of fans. Their obvious enjoyment of playing music live is infectious, and it is hard to catch the band without a smile on the faces.
I was lucky enough to catch them a couple of times at this year’s Vancouver Folk Music Festival and would love to see them hosting their own show here in Vancouver again, sometime soon.
The band are extremely busy touring right now, with festival appearances across Canada and the US through the end of August. At the end of the month they will be heading across the pond to do a tour of the UK, before returning stateside where they will continue to tour until the end of October.
In addition to touring the band are gearing up for new music in 2020, the follow up to 2017’s hit album – Other Love Songs, which you can check out on the webpage.
